You Must Work For The Interest Of Lagosians – Oba Akinolu Tells Sanwo-Olu

…Sanwo-Olu Promises Good Governance
Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos has urged Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the people of Lagos through good governance that will improve the quality of their lives.
Oba Akiolu gave the advice when Sanwo-Olu paid him a courtesy call in his palace at Iga Iduganran, Isale Eko on Monday as a part of his broad-based engagement with diverse stakeholder groups in the state.
The royal father, who prayed for a successful outcome of the gubernatorial election for Sanwo-Olu implored him to make service to the people the focal point of his administration, adding that Lagos since 1999 has had governors that positively impacted the state through provision of social services and development of infrastructure.
“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu started a very good work in Lagos and fought for the interest of Lagos. Babatunde Fashola also did very well and Akinwumi Ambode who is presently in is also doing well. When you get to office by the grace of God you must carry on with the good work of your predecessors and take Lagos to higher level of development. I will always be around to offer you good advice. Everyone knows that I will always say the truth to anyone.
He also charged the APC candidate to be mindful of the people he will surround himself with, as many people in politics are only after what they will benefit for personal aggrandizement.
“I will also implore those of you following him now not to betray him. Your work is to help him succeed. I pray for you that as you move on in your campaign all of you will achieve success together,” said Oba Akiolu.
In his response, Sanwo-Olu expressed his gratitude to the monarch and his chiefs, who came to receive him and his entourage.
He promised that he will diligently serve the people of Lagos by running an inclusive government. Sanwo-Olu reiterated the fact that he has developed comprehensive policies and plans that are in line with the APC manifesto which will vigorously implement if elected by the people of Lagos.
“Kabiyesi, the campaign will officially start in few days from now and before we begin to ask for votes, we decided to see you – our father to ask for your prayers and blessings. We know the importance of the prayer of a father to his children. I am happy you have given us your blessings. By the grace of God, we know we will get victory. I want to assure you that we will work for the people as you have demanded of us. My primary purpose for coming out for the position of Governor is to work for the people. I don’t have any other motivation beyond my readiness to serve the people.”
The APC candidate was accompanied on the visit by the Director General of his Independent Campaign Group, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, former Ministers of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Mr. Demola Seriki, Mr. Sunday Dare, Executive Commissioner of NCC, former Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Lagos State, Mr. Segun Dawodu, Mr. Lanre Babalola, former Chief of Staff to Governor Fashola among other party leaders.

ADC Coalition: Kwankwaso has not decided his movement yet – NNPP Chairman Dungurawa

NNPP claimed that the questions of Kwankwaso joining ADC or any other party is just a miscalculation by politicians who are afraid of the leader of Kwankwasiyya Movements.
Dungurawa, who was speaking to Newsmen in Kano, Monday, hinted that Kwankwaso is not one of those pushover politicians who take decisions without appraising and deeply thinking about their consequences.
“Don’t forget, Kwankwaso today is the Political Leader of Northern Nigeria, and every Politician specifically in this region is looking up to him, so it will be malicious to say he is decamping out for now”.
The Chairman, asked, “why are Nigerian politicians panicking about Kwankwaso’s movements? let them calm down, the times of decision is yet to come, we are people who are too calculative. we don’t just take actions with due consideration”.
While answering questions of the fact that Kwankwaso was seen in places talking to other camps, Suleiman Dungurawa, said, “as a politician who has a PhD in the field, do you expect him to hide himself or dessert people, no way he can talk to anybody but that does not mean anything, is a normal things”.
He said, “those so called followers and supporters of Kwankwaso who are jittery about where he is going, they are pretending followers, but the genuine ones know that Kwankwaso doesn’t take any decisions without talking to them and seeking advice from as low as a ward supporter”.

2027: Current Govt may use courts to frustrate ADC – David Mark raises alarm

The former Senate President raised the alarm in Abuja during a visit by the National Legal Support Group of the ADC, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman.
Abdurrahman, at the meeting, revealed that no fewer than 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the party in all ongoing and future legal cases across Nigeria.
According to him, the legal team has representation in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and is fully mobilised to tackle any legal challenges the ADC may face.
He said the party’s legal team includes prominent legal figures such as the ADC’s Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole; former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; and former Edo State Governor and legal scholar, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.
“We are prepared to handle any case that may arise against ADC anywhere in the country,” Abdurrahman said.
Abdurrahman stated further that the lawyers believe in the ability of the current leadership to transform the party and make a meaningful contribution to national development.
He also extolled Senator Mark’s integrity, urging him to use his experience and statesmanship to guide the ADC to national prominence.
The leader of the National Legal Support Group urged the party’s Legal Adviser to provide necessary documents and updates on legal matters to help the team work effectively.
Responding, Oyewole assured the group that all legal protocols surrounding the recent coalition that birthed the new ADC were properly followed.
“There is no cause for alarm,” he stated.
Senator Mark, however, expressed concern about possible legal threats.
“ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum,” he warned.
He urged Nigerians to support the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative to lead the country forward.
Mark also commended the legal team for their dedication, encouraging them to remain alert and proactive as the party positions itself as a strong contender in the next general elections.
With a growing grassroots presence and a formidable legal structure, the ADC says it is ready to defend its vision and engage in the 2027 political contest.

Lagos LG Election: It’s A Sham Showing APC Game Plan For 2027, Says LP

LP said the exercise was a sham and “a clear red flag – a troubling pointer to what the 2027 general elections may look like if this pattern is not disrupted.”
The party expressed concerns that every true democrat in Nigeria should be alarmed at such development.
Ken Asogwa, Spokesman to Labour Party’s acting national chairman, Nenadi Usman, in a statement on Monday, lamented that “The farce that played out in Lagos State on Saturday, 12th July 2025, under the guise of local government elections, has once again exposed the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party allergic to democratic principles and due process.
The brazen self-allocation of all 57 council chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions to the APC is not only shameless – it is unprecedented in Nigeria’s electoral history.”
He said LP has for long known that the APC, both at the national and sub-national levels, has little regard for civility or the rule of law, but “the audacity with which officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) collaborated openly with APC operatives represents a new low. Never in our democratic journey has such impunity been so openly executed.”
According to him, reports from agents of the party across Lagos State indicate that in most polling units, ballot boxes were already stuffed with pre-thumbprinted ballot papers before voting even commenced.
He also said in many instances, LASIEC officials reportedly arrived with pre-filled result sheets – long before any vote was cast.
“While no one expects electoral decency from the APC, we had hoped that they would at least attempt to feign fairness. Even that pretense has now been discarded,” he added.
The party therefore called in its supporters across Lagos to remain calm and law-abiding in the face of what it described as “monumental provocation.”
The statement called on “LASIEC immediately cancel this mockery of an election and organize a fresh, transparent process that reflects the genuine will of the people.”
“Lagos, known as the Centre of Excellence, should not be reduced to a theatre of electoral absurdity. As a microcosm of Nigeria, what happens in Lagos has ripple effects across the federation,” it stressed, adding that Labour Party “will not be silent.”
