2023: Wike’s Outburst Will Pave Way For Tinubu’s Emergence As President, Says Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister and a staunch supporter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, says the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has destroyed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The human rights lawyer stated this via a post on his social media handles while reacting to Wike’s recent outburst against the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Wike, during a chat with some selected journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday, vowed not to back down on his demand for the resignation of PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, which is currently threatening the division of the party.

Reacting, FFK said the current crisis in the PDP would pave the way for the former Lagos Governor, Tinubu to win the 2023 presidential poll.

He wrote, “Wike has destroyed PDP. He said Atiku is dishonest, unreliable, untrustworthy, and deceitful. He said Ayu is a corrupt, arrogant, racist, power-hungry, anti-southern bigot.

“He said PDP wants to turn Southerners into slaves. He has smashed their balls. ABAT is our next President!”

‘Beware Of Thieves In UK, US,’ FG Advises Nigerians

Published

on

The Federal Government has advised Nigerians in the United States, the United Kingdom and European countries to beware of thieves dispossessing travellers of their belongings.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammad gave the advice on Monday at the 5th Edition of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration Scorecard.

“It has come to the attention of the government that Nigerian travellers to the United States and some countries in Europe are having their belongings, especially money and international passports, stolen at an increasingly high rate,” he said.

“The most recent victims of this are travelers to the UK, most of whom were dispossessed of their belongings at high-brow shops, particularly in the high street of Oxford.

“We have therefore decided to advise Nigerians travelling to Europe and the United States to take extra precautions to avoid being dispossessed of their belongings,” the minister added.

The US and the UK had in October warned of possible terror attacks in Abuja, especially at government buildings, places of worship, schools and other centres where large crowds gather. Both countries also commenced the evacuation of their citizens from the Nigerian political capital.

However, Mohammed dismissed the terror alerts, saying the government won’t be stampeded and that Nigeria is safer than in May 2015 when Buhari came into office.

…Apologizes To Oshiomhole

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has expressed regret for supporting the re-election of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Wike on Wednesday apologised to the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole for working against him in September 2020.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor apologized to Oshiomhole at the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Recall that Oshiomhole arrived in Rivers State on Tuesday to commission the project.

Wike who apologized to Oshiomhole who was smiling at the time said, “We are now friends, let bygones be bygones.”

Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State between 2008 and 2016 had handed over to Obaseki who was in APC at that time.

The relationship between the two men, however, fell apart due to intra-party squabbles.

Obaseki couldn’t secure the governorship ticket of the APC to return to office in 2020, the ticket which was picked up by Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Governor Obaseki defected to PDP and joined forces with the Rivers State Governor.

The Edo State Governor in his bid to regain power in 2020 visited Wike’s residence in Rivers State several times.

Obaseki eventually clinched the governorship ticket of the PDP and defeated Ize-Iyamu who was supported by Oshiomhole, Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Edo State Governor and Wike of late have been at loggerheads amid a crisis rocking the PDP as Obaseki backed PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Wike, however, has continued to demand the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu as a precondition to support Atiku’s presidential ambition for 2023.

Diabetes: Many Patients Died Early Due To Lack Of Education, Says Obasanjo

Published

on

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday blamed lack of education in managing diabetes for the reason why many patients die untimely.

Obasanjo spoke at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during a novelty match between All-Stars FC, Abeokuta and the ex-Super Eagles.

The match, organized by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, was in commemoration of the 2022 World Diabetes Day.

Obasanjo, a diabetes patient of over 30 years, insisted that though the disease is not curable, it is manageable.

The Balogun Owu stated that he is still strong despite being a diabetes patient for about three decades.

He expressed concern that many patients have died within five years of diagnosis, saying this was as a result of lack of education and knowledge needed in managing the disease.

According to him, a patient can live up to 100 years if he or she adheres strictly to the dos and don’ts of diabetes.

“As a diabetic person, you must not take sugar. Any carbohydrate, you take it moderately, once you know that and you go by it, you are fine,” he said.
