Tinubu Aware Of Hardship, There’s Light At The End Of Tunnel – Gov Sule

Published

on

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, on Tuesday said President Bola Tinubu is aware of the hardship faced by Nigerians as a result of some economic reforms by the current administration.

Since taking over office in 2023, President Tinubu has taken tough decisions like the removal of subsidies on petroleum products and the floating of the naira among others.

The situation has sent the prices of goods and services high and subjected Nigerians to real hardship.

But Sule who was a guest on Channels Television said there is light at the end of the tunnel, assuring of better days ahead.

“At the end of the day, some of these reforms being taken by Mr President, he clearly mentioned to Nigerians that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Sule said.

“As far as Mr President is concerned, he is very much aware of these reforms. Nobody said they were going to be easy, they are going to be difficult. This is the hardship we will go through but it is only temporary.”

A proposed new tax legislation seeks to provide Value Added Tax (VAT) exemptions to oil and gas exports, crude petroleum oil and feed gas for all processed gas, as well as goods purchased for use in humanitarian donor-funded projects.

The Nigeria Tax Bill, 2024, also seeks to exempt baby products, locally manufactured sanitary towels, pads or tampons, military hardware, arms, ammunition and locally manufactured uniforms supplied to armed forces, para-military and other security agencies of the Nigerian government from payment of VAT.

However, in what could be a setback for the proposed law, governors of 19 states under the aegis of Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF), on Monday, rejected the proposed tax amendment bill.

In a communique issued at the end of a joint meeting with the Northern Traditional Rulers Council on Monday at Government House, Kaduna, the governors urged the National Assembly to “oppose any bill that can jeopardise the well-being of our people”.

During the interview, Governor Sule weighed in on the controversial Value Added Tax (TAX) bill that has sent the northern region against Tinubu.

“We can not bring President Tinubu as a president – and the North came in heavily in making sure President Tinubu the president – and then turn around and be against him,” he added.

Murder: Police Complete Extradition Of Killaboi, To Face Charges ‎

Published

on

‎The Nigeria Police Force said it has completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, widely known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria.

Killaboi, who had been on the run for the murder of Augusta Onuwabhagbe, was returned to the country in the early hours of today, Saturday, through the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters Abuja and the Qatari Judicial Authorities.

‎The extradition followed a petition from the family of the deceased, submitted through their legal representatives, dated 29th September 2024.

A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, said the matter was assigned to INTERPOL NCB Abuja, after which investigations revealed that the suspect murdered Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, in his residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023. After committing the crime, he fled Nigeria and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act, a deceptive strategy to derail investigative efforts.

‎Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension.

The statement said “He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 20th October 2023 under the false identity ‘KANU PRINCETON SAMUEL,” but escaped custody during a prison break on 26th November 2023 in Freetown.

“Further intelligence gathering revealed that the suspect continued to evade law enforcement, traversing multiple regions including West Africa, East Asia and the Middle East, under forged identities before eventually relocating to Doha, Qatar on 24th January, 2025. Operating under the alias “TOURE ABDOULAYE” with a fraudulent Guinean passport, he secured illegal employment and concealed his identity.

“Through robust international cooperation and the use of advanced biometrics, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025. An official extradition request, processed via the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, was subsequently approved by the Qatari judicial authorities, resulting in his repatriation to Nigeria.”

‎The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, while recognising the strength in the synergy amongst nations to curb trans-border crimes, commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja.

He extended appreciation to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their invaluable collaboration in securing the fugitive’s return.

‎The Inspector-General of Police further assured the general public of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring that the suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of the NPF’s dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.

You Are Not In A Position To Talk About Sincerity, You Betrayed PDP – Atiku Replies Wike

Published

on

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a traitor who is working to undermine the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that Wike stated during a media chat in Abuja on Friday that discussions about a coalition to remove President Bola Tinubu were insincere, adding that selfish motives drove those leading the efforts.

Wike accused Atiku and others of avoiding the problems plaguing the PDP, adding that they are simply interested in becoming president and not willing to work to build the party.

Reacting to the accusation, Atiku, through his media aide, Paul Ibe, said Wike has no moral authority to discuss integrity, accusing him of betraying the PDP.

Speaking to Punch, the former Vice President argued that the coalition comprises genuine Nigerians committed to ending the APC’s style of governance.

He stated, “Wike is not in a position to talk about sincerity. This is a man who betrayed his party, a man working with the APC to destroy and undermine his own party and the interests of Nigerians. So, what does he know about sincerity? Nothing.

“If he wants to speak on sincerity, let him talk to his principal, Tinubu, an absentee President running government from the Presidential Villa’s WhatsApp group. Wike should be sincere to President Tinubu to return home and do his job.

“Wike is not in a position to talk to anybody. Wike is working against his own state where he was once governor. He is trying to ensure he has absolute control of the government in Rivers, working in cahoots with Abuja to get the governor suspended. It is unfortunate that they just open their filthy mouths and speak on things they know nothing about.

“As for the coalition, the sincere Nigerians are determined to end the reckless, irresponsible, clueless APC government. Nigerians want to reclaim their country. The coalition presents Nigerians with a vehicle. Atiku Abubakar and others who are involved in it are just tools to an end. This is about Nigeria.”
