Thierry Henry Tips Mbappe To Surpass Ronaldo, Messi’s Records

Published

on

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has tipped France captain Kylian Mbappe to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s goals records.

Mbappe recently scored a hat-trick during France’s 14-0 win against Gibraltar in their 2024 UEFA Euros qualifier last weekend to reach 300 career goals.

His goals against Gibraltar saw him reach the landmark quicker than Ronaldo and Messi, who were 27 and 25, respectively when they scored a total of 300 goals.

The 24-year-old has already scored 46 goals for France in just 74 games.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward is third on the all-time scorer list behind Henry (51) and Olivier Giroud (56).

However, Henry believes Mbappe can reach 1000 goals, above Ronaldo (865) and Messi (821).

Henry said (via GOAL): “What this little one does is not nothing. It is just incredible […] the problem is when you are so good, people often see when you miss or when you are not good.

“We expect a lot of him, but he should just not have been so good! Joking aside, let’s be happy that he is French. How high can he go? 1000. I’m overdoing it, but honestly, it is Kylian that decides.”

Everton Vs Chelsea Will End In A Draw, Sutton Predicts

Published

on

Former Premier League star Chris Sutton has predicted the outcome of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Everton.

According to him, the game slated for Monday will end in a 1-1 draw.

In his column for the BBC, Sutton stated that Chelsea have a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot, which is bound to happen once again.

While the Blues are on a seven-game unbeaten run, the pundit pointed out that four of those results have been draws.

“As usual with Chelsea, I don’t have a clue what to go for here. If you look back at their results then they are on a seven-game unbeaten run in the league but they have drawn four of those matches because they always seem to shoot themselves in the foot. Everton beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Goodison Park in December but only got their first league win of 2024 last week.

”Beating Burnley was massive for them, but they need to follow that up by getting something at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea are still a developing team so I am going to go with the Toffees to take a point,” he said.

Man City Can’t Drop Points – Guardiola

Published

on

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted his team cannot afford to drop more points in the Premier League title race.

The champions are looking to win the trophy for an unprecedented fourth consecutive season.

However, they are currently in third place, behind rivals Arsenal and Liverpool on the table.

City will play Luton Town first, before Liverpool host Crystal Palace and Aston Villa travel to Arsenal on Sunday.

“The Premier League is so important. I expect a game similar to the Premier League when we won 2-1 at the end of the FA Cup. We have to be ready.

“We’re fighting for the title, we cannot drop points,” Guardiola told reporters today.

Manu Garba Returns As Golden Eaglets Coach

Published

on

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Manu Garba as the head coach of the U-17 male team the Golden Eaglets, 11 years after he guided them to the World Cup.

“The Board of Nigeria Football Federation has appointed former U17 World Cup winner Manu Garba as Head Coach of the Nigeria U17 boys, Golden Eaglets,” the football body said Friday.

He was in the same position when he led the team to victory at the FIFA U17 World Cup for Nigeria in the United Arab Emirates in 2013 – Nigeria’s fourth triumph at that stage.

That group included Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Musa Mohammed, Chidiebere Nwakali, and goalkeeper Dele Alampasu.

“The squad, which finished as runners-up at the African U17 Championship in Morocco after a penalty shootout defeat by Cote d’Ivoire, defeated Mexico 6-1 in their opening game, drew 3-3 with Sweden and hammered Iraq 5-0. In the Round of 16, they ran Iran ragged 4-1, dispatched Uruguay 2-0 in the quarter-finals, and trounced Sweden 3-0 in the semi-finals, before they dislodged Mexico by the same margin in the final to lift the trophy,” the statement read.

“The former Nigeria international will now immediately resume the role and take charge of the team’s preparations for next month’s WAFU B U17 Championship, taking place in Ghana.”
