Nigeria forward, Peter Olayinka, is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery for a Achilles tendon injury.

Olayinka was substituted in Red Star Belgrade’s UEFA Champions League clash with AS Monaco last week after sustaining the injury.

Red Star Belgrade have now confirmed he went under the knife following the setback.

“Peter Olayinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a famous doctor, after an Achilles tendon injury due to a blow he received during a match in Monaco,” the club said in a statement.

“Everything went well and we are waiting for the post-operative period to pass in order to estimate the return time of Zvezda’s football player. We wish him a speedy recovery and return to the field!”

The striker is expected to spend around six to nine months on the sidelines.

He has scored two goals and registered two assists in six league outings for Red Star Belgrade this season.

Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has said that he would have loved Ruud van Nistelroy to coach the club on a permanent basis.

Van Nistelroy, who is currently the interim coach at Man United, will leave his role in the next few days.

Ruben Amorim will assume duty as Man United permanent manager following the recent sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Onana described Van Nistelroy as a ‘very good guy.’

“I’d love Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay even with Amorim, 100%,” the Cameroon international said.

“He is a very good guy, a very good coach and he expects a lot.

“But at the end of the day, it is not something we can decide because the club make the decision.”

Champions League: Lewandowski Will Surpass Messi’s 30 Goals Record –Smith

Published

on

TNT Sports pundit, Rory Smith has tipped Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski to surpass the club’s legend Lionel Messi’s UEFA League all-time goalscorers list.

Lewandowski is third on the list of players with the most goals in the Champions League competition.

The Poland international recently took his Champions League tally to 99 goals.

He netted two goals in Barcelona’s 5-2 thumping of Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday.

His brace put him at 30 goals shy of Messi’s tally.

Messi is second on the Champions League all-time scorers list with 129 goals and his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo is top of the chart with 140 goals.

“It’s not impossible that he catches Messi. 30 more goals. Two more years. 15 a season,” Smith said (via EuroSport).

“He’s quite old, but he famously eats his pudding before his main course. He will be going!”

Victor Osimhen has reiterated his desire to remain at Galatasaray for the remainder of the season.

Osimhen moved to the RAMS Park on a season-long loan deal from Napoli in the summer.

The Nigeria international has been linked with a move away from the Turkish Super Lig champions ahead of the summer transfer window approaching.

The powerful striker, however, said he is not thinking about moving elsewhere.

“They are talking about January. I am here until the end of the season. I don’t know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about after that,” the striker was quoted by Nexus Sports.

“We will talk when they tell me. This is a club I really like.”

Osimhen was on target in Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

The 25-year-old has now scored six goals and provided four assists in eight appearances for the Turkish Super Lig champions.
