Slot ponders kids gamble for Liverpool FA Cup clash with Brighton
Slot says he may hand chances to the likes of Trey Nyoni and Rio Nguhoma on the day.
He said this morning: “Not the first time we’ve had 3 games in 7 days, it is part of being a top club. It depends what draw you have too and we play a strong Brighton side, they don’t deserve the position they are in, they play so much better than the table shows, they deserve more than they get so it is another challenge.
“It took me a long time before I could fall asleep because I was constantly thinking of the same options. Which players, which other players, which positions, so I need another 24 hours.
“Where is this as a priority? We have 3 clear priorities, FA Cup, CL qualification and CL. We are also aware of the limited options so the load management is important, the last thing we need is another injury, so that is always the tough thing for a manager, to make the best decision every time. It wouldn’t be the first time a player gets injured if they have to play 3 in 7.
“Most important thing is we train today, listen to the players, see how they feel and make the best decisions.”
Liverpool will host Brighton on the back of a Premier League win at Sunderland in midweek.
Slot also said: “I am always looking at the younger players, a few of them are closer and closer to first-team football. Rio and Trey have had that and games like this could be an option but it is about the right balance.
“We play a strong team and who to play is something to think about.”

Insecurity: MFM suspends vigils, limits services to 8pm nationwide
Vigils and overnight meetings have also been suspended until further notice.
The directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the Director of Administration at the church’s international headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.
The church said the decision was taken in the interest of the safety and well-being of its members amid prevailing security challenges in the country.
According to the memo, all services, meetings and other church activities must henceforth end not later than 8:00 pm.
It also stated that vigils and overnight prayer programmes were suspended until further notice.
“Where necessary, vigils may be converted to evening prayer programmes and must be concluded on or before 8:00 p.m,” the statement read.
The church stressed that the measures were precautionary and mandatory for all levels of the ministry.
“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country.
“All MFM ministers, groups, and departments are to strictly comply with this directive,” it added.

Uzodinma begs APC primary election losers to accept results, work for party
Following some complaints and disharmony arising from the just concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter, Governor Hope Uzodinma has appealed to aggrieved aspirants who lost out during the exercise to accept the outcome of the primaries and see it as a sacrifice they offered for the stability of the party.
He urged them and other party faithful to concentrate on how to ensure the APC has a successful outing in the 2027 elections.
The Governor made the appeal during a post-primary stakeholders meeting convened by the party leadership aimed at assuaging frayed nerves following the aftermath of the primaries.
Addressing party leaders, candidates and former aspirants, Uzodinma congratulated the party on the just-concluded exercise, which he described as a success, while urging members to put the contests behind them in the interest of party unity.
He stressed that while every election produces winners and losers, members must remain committed to the collective interest of the party and the development of the State.
“There is no contest without winners and losers. What is important is how we conduct ourselves after the contest. We must remain united because the interest of the State and our party is bigger than any individual ambition,” the governor said.
Uzodinma called on party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation and voter registration efforts ahead of 2027, expressing confidence that APC would record overwhelming victories in the State.
Earlier in his speech, the State Chairman of the party, Austin Onyedebelu, commended members for their peaceful conduct during the primaries, describing the exercise as evidence of the political maturity of party members.
He congratulated successful candidates and urged those who did not secure tickets to remain loyal to the APC, noting that politics is a journey and future opportunities remain open to committed party members.
Onyedebelu used the occasion to call on those who contested the primaries to collapse their structures into the party mainstream ahead of the general elections.
The meeting ended with a unanimous pledge by stakeholders, candidates and former aspirants to remain united and mobilise support for APC candidates at all levels, including President Tinubu, in the 2027 general elections

Liverpool in ‘strongest position’ to sign Yan Diomande despite PSG interest
Mohamed Salah’s imminent departure will leave a huge void in the right channel after destroying Premier League defences during his nine years at Anfield.
But instead of trying to find a like-for-like replacement, the Reds feel Diomande’s versatility – capable of playing on the right or left flank – will be a massive asset for them.
Their biggest problem in negotiations for the 19-year-old, though, is Leipzig’s unwillingness to sell and PSG’s interest in his signature.
Diomande recently admitted that PSG is a team he “admires” as a football fan, and his father supports them, arguably dealing Liverpool a blow in their pursuit of the teenage sensation.
But David Ornstein’s latest update suggests that the Champions League winners aren’t guaranteed to land him, as he feels the Merseyside giants are in the “strongest position” to negotiate a move with the player.
Leipzig reportedly want a whopping £104 million for the Ivorian international after watching him dazzle on the domestic and European stage. He produced an eye-watering 23 goal involvements in 36 appearances and will only get even better.
