Regina Daniels undergoes drug test

Published

on

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has broken her silence on recent controversies surrounding her life by undergoing a drug test, a decision she disclosed in an emotional post on her Instagram page on Wednesday.

The actress said the move followed months of intense personal struggles and public scrutiny, describing the period as one that nearly overwhelmed her.

She wrote, “The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy. one of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, “So, what are we doing next?” It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me.

Daniels explained that despite the emotional toll, she survived the storm because of the love and support she received from family, friends and members of the public.

“But here’s the plot twist…I didn’t drown with it. Why? Because I was carried by overwhelming love, support, patience, and understanding from my family, my friends, members of the general public. And for that, I am forever grateful.

“After much reflection (and a few very long conversations with myself), I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters.

According to her, the decision to undergo the test was influenced by persistent rumours labelling her a drug addict, claims she described as baseless and hurtful.

Daniels stressed that the test was not just about clearing her name, but about accountability and peace of mind, especially for those who look up to her.

“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, “Regina is a drug addict.” And honestly? I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict. I searched so hard it almost felt like I was going psychic…because surely, I must be missing something. That’s when it hit me! people often project their fears, insecurities, and negativity onto you. But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth.

“Here’s the choice we all have to make: Do you allow yourself to be defined by other people’s opinions, or do you create your own narrative? As for me, I choose the latter every single time. The same mouth that was used to spoil my name is the same mouth that will build it back up.

She described the phase as one of self-discovery and growth, adding that she remains grateful to God for strength and resilience.

“This chapter of my life is now about self discovery, self growth, and becoming even more intentional about who I am and where I’m going. I thank God endlessly for His grace, His strength, and His excellence in my life..because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that He has carried me through it all. I’m still standing, still growing and just getting started
And yes… we move. 💪✨ happy new year everyone.”

The announcement comes amid intense public scrutiny of her marriage to billionaire businessman and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko, which has reportedly deteriorated into a bitter estrangement.

In recent months, both parties have traded serious allegations. Daniels had accused Nwoko of domestic abuse and of attempting to force her into rehabilitation, claiming at one point that members of her family were detained to pressure her into compliance.

Nwoko also denied the abuse allegations, instead alleging that Daniels has been battling substance use issues. He claimed he arranged therapy after noticing what he described as “concerning behaviour linked to dependence on certain illegal substances.”

The senator’s camp has also released statements asserting the authenticity of medical documents and toxicology reports which they claim show that Daniels tested positive for drugs and alcohol at harmful levels.

Police arrest suspect over Destiny Boy’s death

Published

on

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with the death of popular singer Adesina Afeez, widely known as Destiny Boy.

The command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation.

In a statement on Monday, the police public relations officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi said, “The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.”

News of Destiny Boy’s death broke on Sunday after distressing videos showing his body being conveyed to a mortuary circulated widely on social media, sparking grief and speculation over the cause of his death.

In one of the videos, the artiste was seen lying in the back of a vehicle, with cotton wool placed in his nostrils and ears.

An attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding his passing was later made in a separate video by an unidentified associate, who said the singer had been battling a private health challenge.

“God, I want to do this video before people start saying rubbish about Destiny Boy’s cause of death. We all came to this life to write our own history. May God rest his soul. Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he died. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it,” the man said.

Born Afeez Adeshina, Destiny Boy ventured into music at a young age and became known for his Fuji-infused style. He began his career at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, where he worked as a backup dancer for Fuji musician Pasuma.

He rose to prominence in 2019 after releasing a Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song If, which gained wide attention on social media. He also released covers of songs by Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice and Small Doctor.

The singer released several songs, including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan and Lowkey.

Destiny Boy and his partner, Iremide, welcomed their first child in November 2024.

The police said further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
