Plastic Surgery ‘Wiping Out Generations Of Beauty’, Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis Cries Out

Published

on

Hollywood actress, Jamie Lee Curtis has raised an alarm of the damage plastic surgery can do and is hoping people will start thinking twice before tweaking their appearance just to suit the current aesthetic fads.

When asked about her industry’s beauty standards in an interview with Fast Company, the actress revealed that she once tried out tried plastic surgery and while it didn’t work, it got her addicted to Vicodin.

Curtis stated that the trend of fillers and obsession with filtering, adjusts our appearance and is also wiping out generations of beauty.

She said; “I tried plastic surgery and it didn’t work. It got me addicted to Vicodin. I’m 22 years sober now.

“The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty. Once you mess with your face, you can’t get it back.”

Curtis also said the influence social media has on our self-perception and comparisons to others certainly doesn’t help. She stated that while they play a helpful role in activism, platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Twitter can be “very dangerous” for youths in particular.

She added; “It’s like giving a chainsaw to a toddler.

“We just don’t know the longitudinal effect, mentally, spiritually, and physically, on a generation of young people who are in agony because of social media, because of the comparisons to others. All of us who are old enough know that it’s all a lie. It’s a real danger to young people.

“I use social media to sell things and amplify things I care about. Period. The rest is cancer. I never read one comment.”

Curtis has opened up about her past cosmetic procedures before, telling the Telegraph in 2002, “I’ve had a little lipo. I’ve had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it.”

She’s long strived to keep it real in the face of Hollywood’s unattainable beauty standards, famously posing for More magazine in 2002 in just a sports bra and skivvies, sans makeup or retouching.

on

Nollywood actor, Rotimi Salami has stirred the internet as he makes a strong case for paternity fraud.

With the daily news of men discovering at dying minutes that their kids aren’t biologically theirs, many men are becoming interested in DNA, especially in Nigeria.

In a post on his Instagram page, he stated that paternity fraud should be criminalized like rape.

He likened the pain and trauma a woman experiences when raped to that of a man when he finds out the child he has been raising another man’s child.

Lamenting, he noted how tape is a major offense and wants paternity fraud to be one too.

“Paternity fraud should be criminalized just like rape. The experience when raped is the same a man goes through when he finds out he’s been raising another man’s child. Damn!

Rape is a major offense

Paternity fraud should also be

None of these 2 should be encouraged

men mental health too matters”.

His statement comparing rape with paternity fraud didn’t sit well with some netizens who tackled him via his comment section.

One Just Phabulous wrote, “Comparing rape and paternity fraud is an all-time low. Getting gang raped and violated is not the same. This is a wrong comparison and a slap on the face of all rape victims. Of all the things you picked rape. Come on Rotimi, you are a girl dad

One Elizabeth Olosu wrote, “Wow! Comparing rape to paternity fraud? Nothing else to compare it to but rape? You can do better

One Ife Lover Boy wrote, “I agree with you but I guess women can do no wrong

One Dress By Nag wrote, “There should be a jail term for paternity fraud cos wtf. Dis tin is becoming too much”.

This is coming hours after a man cried out after he found out that his 11-year-old child was not his after DNA.

Weeks back, veteran actor and filmmaker, Ugezu J Ugezu had kicked against the need for DNA. The actor had taken to his Instagram page to chastise men who have formed the habit of undergoing paternity tests before claiming a child.

He opined that DNA stuff is tearing many homes apart and destroying innocent children as any child born to an African man is an African man’s child.
