October 1: “I am not going to japa” – Funke Akindele declares as she counts her blessings in Nigeria

Veteran multiple award winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele made her opinion known about the ongoing japa issues in the country.

As today, the 1st of October 2024, marks the 64th year that Nigeria gained her independence, the actress took to her Instagram to celebrate the country’s new year.

Funke Akindele appreciated and praised every Nigerian for their perseverance in this period of trial in the country.

The mother of two boys expressed her utmost belief that Nigeria will be great again and therefore she will not be relocating to another country for greener pastures.

The highest grossing producer counted the blessings and achievements that she attainted in Nigeria which include being able to empower the youtha, ability to shoot a movie with over one hundred and seventy five (175) crew members, the selling out of her movie release.

Akindele Acknowledge that Nigeria got her all these and many more and she will not be deserting the country during her hard times.

Sharing the beautiful speech on her official verified Instagram page, Funke declares that Nigeria is a place where talents thrive and opportunities abound.

“Happy Independence Day to my beloved Nigeria! We’ve weathered storms, but our spirit remains unbroken. I celebrate our resilience, creativity & hope. Envisioning a Nigeria where dreams flourish, talents thrive & opportunities abound. Let’s believe in a brighter tomorrow.”

2024 BON awards: Femi Adebayo reacts as ‘Jagun Jagun’ bags 12 nominations

Actor Femi Adebayo’s epic Netflix Original Yoruba movie, ‘Jagun Jagun’, has bagged twelve nominations in the 2024 Best of Nollywood Awards, BON.


The nominated categories include, Best Indigenous, Best Supporting Actor, Director of the Year, Best Use of Makeup, Best Cinematography, Best Costume, Best Actor, Best Sound, Best Soundtrack, Best Production Design, Best Special Effect, and Best Actress.

Reacting to the news in a viral post on his X handle on Saturday, the excited actor expressed joy over the new feat achieved by the movie.


“Wow Guys! We’ve done it Again !! Delighted to announce that JAGUN JAGUN – THE WARRIOR (a Netflix Original Movie) has been nominated for Twelve (12) Awards at the 2024 BON Awards.”

This comes a few days after ‘Jagun Jagun’, which was released in 2023, bagged seven nominations in the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA

Adebayo began acting in 1985, the same year he featured in his father’s first movie titled Ogun Ajaye.

Adebayo has starred in over 500 Nigerian films, winning four awards as Best Yoruba Actor at the 17th African Film Awards popularly known as Afro Hollywood Awards at the Stratford Town Hall in London.

He also won an award in the same category for the Best of Nollywood Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria Awards in 2012. Adebayo has a long list of movies to his credit, which includes the Sonto Alapata, Wura Ati Fadaka, Ma Wobadan and Buga, among others. He is the MD/CEO of J-15 Media Network Nigeria.

Adebayo signed a deal with a digital TV platform, StarTimes as her ambassador.

In 2022, Femi Adebayo was nominated for Best Actor in A Comedy (AMVCA)

In July 2022, he was named as the ambassador for Kubanah whisky along with some other Nollywood actors[.

R Kelly’s Daughter Claims He Sexually Abused Her As A Child

Joann Kelly, the daughter of a famous American singer, R. Kelly, has claimed that her father sexually abused her as a child.

Speaking in a new two part documentary series for the TVEI Streaming Network, Joann said she first reported the abuse to her mother, Drea, in 2009.

The 26-year-old who did not detail the alleged abuse, stated in an episode of the documentary titled ‘Karma: A Daughter’s Journey’, that the jail sentence of the 57-year-old singer is well deserved.

“My father was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that he would do something to me even if he was a bad person.

“I was too scared to tell anybody. I was too scared to tell my mom. I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life, who I was as a person and the light I used to carry.

“After I told my mom, I didn’t go over there anymore; my brother (Robert) and sister (Jaah) we didn’t go over there anymore. And even up until now I struggle with it a lot.”

Reacting to the documentary, the singer’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean in a public statement denied the allegations.

Recall that the singer was sentenced to 20 years in prison In February 2023, for child pornography and enticement charges.

He will serve the years concurrently with a prior 30-year prison sentence from a separate case in New York on July 29, 2022.

‘Marriage Is Not In My Prayer Points’ – Ini Edo Debunks Engagement Rumour

Popular Nigerian actress, Ini Edo has addressed recent speculations about her potential marriage.

Recall that the reports went viral in September 2024 after Ini Edo shared a photo of herself in a traditional Efik bridal gown with love caption on her official page.

However, speaking during her latest interview with Premium Times, the actress clarified that the post was a promotion for her upcoming four-part series, ‘My Fairytale Wedding’ and not an engagement announcement.


When asked if she anticipated having a real life fairytale wedding someday, Ini Edo noted that marriage is no longer a priority for her.

“I’m not crazy about marriage; I am crazy about having a solid relationship. I’m not hoping, and it’s not any of my prayer points.”

Recall that the actress was previously married to a Nigerian-American businessman, Philip Ehiagwina. The couple got married in 2008 but divorced in 2014
