Nigerian movie star, IK Ogbonna, has denied involvement in a viral alleged romance scam.

Recall that a report of the actor being invited and investigated by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in collaboration with the FBI over a $75k romance scam surfaced online on Friday morning.

According to the report, the complaint was made against him by a 49-year-old American woman named, Kimberly Ann, who alleged to have been in an online relationship since 2025.


However, denying the report on his Instagram story, IK Ogbonna said “This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don’t support, or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity.”

While warning the general public against the imposters, he said “unfortunately, this is not the first time my name, image, and identity have been used by unknown individuals operating fake social media accounts to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.”

“I have never authorized anyone to represent me online, solicit money on my behalf, or engage in private conversations pretending to be me.

“Please remain vigilant and be extremely careful of impersonators and catfish accounts that exploit my identity to scam unsuspecting people”, he wrote in the disclaimer post.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke has revealed that he made deliberate efforts to rebrand as a responsible gentleman from the “bad boy” image the movie industry gave him.

Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, Iyke stated that external forces influenced him into taking up the “bad boy” image but he rebranded when he realised that it was no longer serviceable.

He claimed that a lot of his colleagues suffer stagnation because they don’t know when to exit the stage or evolve.

The movie star emphasised that it is important for entertainers to know when to rebrand to maintain relevance.

He said, “External forces play a great part in who you become in the entertainment industry.

“At every point in time something is serviceable. We can all agree the ‘bad boy’ image was serviceable then. But then, as you advance in life, you meet important people that your ‘bad boy’ persona is anathema to how they live.

“Not knowing when to exit the stage is a problem a lot of us are having in entertainment. Let’s just say I knew when to exit.

“The ‘bad boy’ image served its purpose but I had to ditch it when it is no longer serviceable to move forward in life.”

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie is advocating for a copycat police in the industry.

In her Instagram story, she claimed that the number of colleagues who copy her in the industry is high.

According to her, people copy her outfits, hairstyles, even the songs she uses in her videos, and the way she talks and walks.

Calling them yeyebrities, she questioned why they can’t admit they like her and instead choose to copy her style and claim they did it first.
