Man City Turn On Style As Llast-Gasp Chelsea Deny Man United

Manchester City brushed aside Burnley 5-0 to pull clear at the top of the Premier League on Saturday after Chelsea snatched a point in a dramatic late finish against Manchester United.

City’s win gives them a two-point cushion over Chelsea and Tottenham — 1-0 winners at West Ham — but Liverpool will join them on 23 points if they beat Huddersfield in the late kick-off.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who missed a late penalty to beat Liverpool at Anfield earlier this month, made it seven wins from nine league games as Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart endured a miserable return to his former club at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring in the 17th minute before second-half goals rained in from Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane.

With the defending champions slipping ominously into gear, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne came on for just his second appearance of the season following a knee injury he suffered in August.

Earlier, Ross Barkley scored in the sixth minute of injury time at Stamford Bridge to level the match at 2-2 after Anthony Martial had scored twice in the second half to cancel out Antonio Rudiger’s opener.

It was a bitter blow for the under-pressure Mourinho, returning to his former club after a poor start to the season and he lost his cool in emotional scenes in the final seconds.

Mourinho took exception to the celebrations of one of Chelsea’s backroom staff, Marco Ianni, who ran in front of the Portuguese on the touchline, as he seemed set for a desperately needed win.

But after the final whistle the United boss played down the incident, saying Ianni had apologised to him.

“(It was) not celebrations, but bad education. But I also made mistakes in football matches and I will make more so after the game when he came to offer his apologies, I accept,” added Mourinho.

The United boss, who has a tough run of fixtures coming up, including games against Juventus and Manchester City, described the 2-2 draw as an “awful” result for his team, who roared back from 2-0 to beat Newcastle United in their last match.

Sarri said his side lost out to United in the physical battle as the game wore on.

“I am happy with the performance of the team for 60 minutes because for 60 minutes we played our football,” said the Italian.

“Then after the goal of 1-1 we haven’t played our football. We only played the long ball and we are not organised to go on the second ball.”

Erik Lamela scored the only goal of the game as Spurs beat West Ham at the London Stadium to maintain their impressive start to the season.

Liverpool travel to Huddersfield looking to end a four-game winless run in all competitions following an electric start to the season.

Elsewhere, Cardiff beat Fulham 4-2 while there were also wins for Brighton and Watford. Bournemouth drew 0-0 with Southampton.

Cole Palmer ready for Pafos clash despite injury concerns in huge boost for Rosenior

Published

on

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer is ready to start against Pafos in the Champions League this week.

Palmer’s performance against Brentford was Palmer’s 13th appearance of what has been an injury-plagued campaign so far and was just the fourth time he has completed 90 minutes under both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

Fans were worried that the England star would not be ready to face Pafos after the 23-year-old was spotted clutching his groin shortly after the full-time whistle against the Bees.

However, football.london report that Palmer was on the grass with his teammates at Chelsea’s training base in Cobham and looked fine throughout the session, which is a huge boost for Rosenior and his side.

Chelsea are two points off the automatic last-16 places with two games to go and are competing in their fourth different tournament in the space of four games as Rosenior is pushed to the limit in his first few weeks at the club.

Palmer’s comeback from a groin injury that kept him out for over two months, from September to December, has restricted his game time and performances this season.

He is unlikely to start against Pafos but could feature off the bench late into the game as Rosenior tries to build his match fitness for what remains of the season.

Oscar Bobb set to leave Man City this month

Published

on

Manchester City star Oscar Bobb is set to leave the club after being slowly forced out of the club.

Following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo, Bobb, who rarely featured under manager Pep Guardiola, has been pushed aside in recent weeks as the club seek to offload the teenager.

The 22-year-old has featured 19 times in 2025-26 following further injury concerns and despite his recent return, he has been absent from the side who are winless so far in 2026.

Now, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs, Bobb is set to be sold as City cash in on the youngster who is very unlikely to be handed any more opportunities in the side.

“Oscar Bobb could leave Manchester City this month on a permanent transfer. As revealed in December, Fulham are keen.

“Discussions are now advancing, as @FabrizioRomano called.

“Dortmund also have Bobb on their radar.

“Manchester City prefer a sale to a loan and value Bobb in the region of £30m-£35m depending on the structure.

“Understand Bobb is now Fulham’s top priority. Fulham also still working on USMNT forward Ricardo Pepi despite his injury.”

Man Utd make contact with Borussia Dortmund coach Kovac

Published

on

Manchester United have made a move for Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac.

While they have Michael Carrick in place after sacking Ruben Amorim, United only see their former midfielder as a stop-gap to the end of the season.

Sky Deutschland says United have made contact with Kovac’s camp seeking information on the Croatian’s plans.

Kovac took charge of Dortmund a year ago and penned an extension to 2027 at the start of this season.

However, it’s understood the 54 year-old holds an ambition to work in the Premier League.

Dortmund sit second in the Bundesliga, 11 points off near-perfect Bayern, and are tenth in the Champions League.
