“How Daddy Showkey was the first person to give me $100 for my life” – 2baba
Legendary singer 2baba has given flowers to another musical icon, Daddy Showkey.
While performing at a recent event, the singer paused to commend Daddy Showkey, revealing that he was the first person to give him $100 in his life.
Elsewhere, on the stage, 2baba had turned over a new leaf, noting how he was always going out to look for trouble. The famous singer noted how he had gotten more than he bargained for and now wouldn’t be looking for trouble again.
Last year, the legendary singer celebrated 25 years in the industry. In a letter to the public, he paid tribute to his new wife, Natasha; his former band members, Blackface and Faze; his manager, Efe Omorogbe; his colleagues; family; and friends.
Also, last year, he announced the unveiling of his new management team, carefully assembled to reinvent and amplify every facet of his brand. He expressed his excitement, noting that change is a necessary part of growth, and he believes his new team understands his vision, legacy, and where we’re headed next.
Recall that in 2024, 2baba had parted ways with his manager of 20 years, Efe Omorogbe. Speaking out, Efe thanked 2baba for his trust and friendship. He expressed his pride in the brand they built, the music they made, and the fans they entertained. He described 2baba as one of the greatest Nigerian musicians of all time, and it was an honour to have had the opportunity to walk with him.
On his 50th birthday, in September, the legendary singer released an official statement, noting how many who started this path with him are no longer here. He appreciated his family members, management, colleagues, and others who had supported him in one way or another.
While performing at his concert in December, the legendary singer had tendered an apology to the public. He appealed to Nigerians to forgive him and his family, and not to be angry.

Afrobeat singer Davido has condemned the All Progressive Congress (APC).
In a post on one of his social media pages, he reacted to the video of the Ooni of Ife commending his uncle, Governor Adeleke, at the commissioning of the Ile-Ife span flyover bridge and road dualisation project.
Davido said that the APC is backward and questioned why they are trying to stop progress in the state.
“APC is just backward. Why would they be doing anything to stop progress? I thought y’all were progressive?”
In another post, he said anyone supporting APC in Osun State is an enemy of progress. The singer noted how lessons will be learnt this weekend, which is the election week.
“Anybody supporting APC in Osun State is an enemy of progress. Lessons will be learnt this weekend”.
During a recent rally in Osun, Davido noted that he had just dropped an album yet had to come to Osun State for the election. The singer said he is focused on the state so he can see the situation for himself because he genuinely cares about his people.
In April the singer was appointed Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council backing his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, in his re-election as Osun State Governor.
Confirming the appointment via his Twitter page, Davido expressed excitement at helping his uncle run a smooth campaign.
As part of his appointment, Davido had visited Osun State, where he was royally received.
During a press conference, Governor Adeleke officially welcomed him to his home and into their campaign. He noted how Davido brings energy, influence, and passion, and is what they need to mobilise and inspire their vibrant youth population.
Last year, the Osun State Government had announced the appointment of Davido as the Chairman of the newly established Osun Sports Trust Fund.
Over the years, Davido has become actively involved in the politics of Nigeria, especially in Osun State.
During the previous Governorship campaign in Osun State, Davido actively campaigned for his uncle, and when he won, Davido celebrated openly online.

Yes, the country is hard, and I know everyone is struggling. However, you all still came together, contributed money and put everything together to give me a special and unforgettable birthday and proposal surprise. Honestly, words cannot express how grateful and loved I feel.
