Inter Milan Strike Late To Beat Urawa Reds At Club World Cup

Published

Valentin Carboni struck the winning goal in stoppage time as Inter Milan came from behind to beat Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1 on Saturday and knock the Japanese team out of the Club World Cup.

Ryoma Watanabe got an early opening goal for Urawa Reds, who were backed by a noisy contingent of their supporters at Lumen Field in Seattle.

But captain Lautaro Martinez had got Inter’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Monterrey of Mexico in their first match at the tournament, and he repeated the trick to level matters here with 12 minutes to go.

Carboni, the 20-year-old Argentine who had not made an appearance for Inter in more than two years, then appeared in the 92nd minute to give the Italians the victory.

“Our opponents play with their hearts and to counter that as a team we need to play with more pride, be humble and know how to suffer,” Martinez told broadcaster DAZN after Inter were made to work for the victory.

The result leaves Cristian Chivu’s team in a good position to now go and qualify for the last 16, while a second defeat in as many matches means Urawa Reds are eliminated.

“Our emotion is very bad after this game. We are out of the tournament so now we can only fight in the last game to achieve our one and only win,” said their Polish coach Maciej Skorza.

Sanchez Was Outstanding Against PSG -Mikel

Published

on

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has said that goalkeeper Robert Sánchez surprised him during the Club World Cup final match against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Mikel had earlier criticised the Spaniard, calling on the club to sell him. But he has had a change of mind about him after yesterday’s game.

Chelsea surprised the football world by beating PSG 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium in the presence of US President Donald Trump.

Prior to the game, Mikel had urged the Blues to sign a new goalkeeper before the new Premier League season.

However, Sánchez helped the Blues beat the Champions League holders and won the best goalkeeper of the tournament award.

He kept three clean sheets in the competition, and Mikel now feels different about the Spain international.

He told DAZN, “I’m surprised, he had a really good game today. Credit when credit is due. He did play a good game today. This save here—brilliant save, strong hands.

“That’s what you need from a goalkeeper. I’m very, very happy for him.

“Hopefully we can see a much better Sánchez.”

Raja Casablanca will approach South African club, Chippa United, for the shot-stopper this week, according to reports.

The 29-year-old is valued at around €650,000 by Transfermarkt.

Nwabali has been consistently linked with a move away from Chippa United after a number of impressive performances for the club and on the international scene.

The former Katsina United shot-stopper has two years left on his contract with the Chili Boys.

Raja Casablanca are desperate to overhaul their squad after a disappointing outing in the Moroccan Botola Pro League last season.

Barca Sign Young Copenhagen Winger Bardghji

Barcelona have signed right winger Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen, the La Liga champions said Monday.

“The winger has signed for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2029,” said Barca in a statement, without specifying the cost of the deal.

The 19-year-old joined for around 2.5 million euros ($3 million) according to reports in Spanish media.

Bardghji scored 15 goals in 84 games for Copenhagen after reaching the first team in the 2021/2022 season.

He suffered a severe knee injury in May 2024, which kept him out of action for nearly a year, with the youngster making his return in March 2025.

Bardghji becomes Barcelona’s second signing of the summer after they brought in goalkeeper Joan Garcia from local rivals Espanyol.

The Sweden U21 winger is likely to join Barca for their pre-season matches before coach Hansi Flick decides if he is ready to form part of the first team squad for next season.
