I Was Once Set Up To Confirm My Virginity, Actress, Nkechi Blessing Reveals
Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing, has revealed how a sister set her up with her boyfriend to confirm if she was a virgin.
The thespian said the incident was why she felt strongly about the Baba Ijesha (real name James Omiyinka) rape saga.
She recalled how at age 16 or 17, the older sibling didn’t believe she was a virgin “because I was weird”.
Blessing made the revelation in an interview with #WithChude hosted by Chude Jideonwo,
The film producer said though her mother had a beer parlour then, she was so strict that her kids dare not mess around.
“She (sister) invited me out with her boyfriend. I was cool with it but then it started to seem as though she wanted to set me up with her boyfriend to confirm if I was still a virgin or not. They brought drinks and I drank them. She stood up, left, and said she would be back.
“The guy stood up and sat beside me. My mind immediately went to the fact that my mother didn’t believe I was a virgin. I was scared to death but I knew I needed to do something.
“Next thing, I summed up the courage to leave and the guy held me down and said ‘you’re not going anywhere’. Then, I asked him, ‘uncle, you wan rape me?’ This statement startled him and then he let me go”, she narrated.
Blessing explained that the experience and numerous stories of others who were raped made her become an advocate against the crime.
On the Baba Ijesha case, she said, “I can only imagine what that 14-year old girl was going through. No sane human being will hear such a thing and be happy with it, unless he/she was also a child molester”.

In a trending video, she said, “And I am just so happy to be South African. I’m happy to be African most of all.

‘I’m sick of Nigerians acting lawless’ – Jemima Osunde reacts to unruly driver
Nollywood actress, Jemima Osunde has expressed anger after a road user allegedly drove against traffic in Lagos, saying she refused to give way to the vehicle.
Osunde spoke in a video shared online, alleging that the driver left his lane to avoid traffic and entered a lane meant for motorists heading towards Lekki.
She said she remained in her lane and blocked the vehicle, insisting that motorists should not break traffic rules simply to avoid congestion.
“I will not leave my lane for you when you are passing one way. I won’t do it. I don’t care if you have police in your car,” Osunde said.
The actress said she was willing to delay her plans or remain in traffic rather than allow the alleged traffic violation.
“I’m sick of Nigerians just doing anyhow, as if Lagos is not congested enough, without you passing one way and breaking traffic lights,” she said.
Osunde added that she would only give way to emergency service vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks.
“Unless you’re an ambulance or a fire truck and emergency service, I will not leave my lane for you when you’re passing one way. I won’t,” she added.

‘I want this woman out of my space’ – Actress Dior Adiele calls out mother
Nigerian actress Dior Adiele has asked her mother to leave her house, weeks after raising concerns about her brother’s alleged drug addiction and its impact on her family.
Adiele made the disclosure in a series of posts on social media, saying she wants to focus on her daughter, who lives in the same house.
She alleged that her mother’s presence had become a source of distress and accused her of draining her finances despite years of hard work.
“I want this woman out of my fucking space,” Adiele wrote, adding that her mother was refusing to leave because she had nowhere else to go.
Adiele also alleged that she started paying rent at the age of 16 and had struggled financially despite making money from her work.
“My childhood was stolen from me. I started paying rent at 16, in a house I lived in with her and my siblings,” she wrote.
The actress further alleged that her mother had made her and her siblings homeless three times and claimed that she had lost money she could have used to acquire properties.
“I made money, I made crazy money to afford me some landed properties, but this woman drained my every dime,” she said.
Adiele had earlier raised concerns about her brother’s alleged drug addiction, saying his behaviour had become difficult to manage and that she was worried about her daughter living in the same house.
“My daughter needs me; I want to be sane for her. I have been used for too long; I am losing my mind,” she wrote.
