“How my friends deserted me after my brain surgery” – Comedian Julius Agwu breaks down in emotional interview, opens up on his hard times
Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu has broken down in tears as he recounted his hard times.
In an interview on Beer Parlour Talkshow, he recounted how life took a swift turn for him after his health challenges. He said his life went downhill in May 2015, when he had a seizure at home, and that was the beginning of his battle with a brain ailment.
Julius Agwu friends abandoned me
According to him, he underwent a successful brain surgery in May 2016 and luckily survived that trying time.
He said he felt abandoned by people he considered friends, saying some stopped communicating with him after his health crisis.
“My friends deserted me. This Bishop wey they talk now, he was managing me, collect my money, do everything, then they stopped talking to me, many of them, but God no leave me”.
Julius Agwu was one of Nigeria’s top comedians back in the day. He made waves with his music and comedy track, Handwork.
In 2023, Julius Agwu confirmed reports that his marriage to Ibiere Maclayton had ended. He said his wife left him, saying she was tired of the marriage.
Despite the end of his marriage, Julius expressed gratitude for being alive. He shared more about his health journey, saying he was admitted to a London teaching hospital where he was in a coma for three months.
Recall that the couple were married for over 15years before their split, which many believed was due to Julius’ health challenges.
It was alleged that Ibiere Maclayton had moved on with another man despite the comedian’s ailing health. Instagram blogger Gistlovers disclosed this, alleging that Julius Agwu’s wife claimed she was tired of taking care of him and that side chicks should also take turns caring for the comedian.
Gistlovers also alleged that Julius Agwu was fond of sleeping with numerous side chicks while making waves in the entertainment industry.
In what seemed like a response to the rumours, Ibiere shared a mysterious post on how voicing out your feelings ends up showing your level of stupidity.

‘I defeated 17 Governors, won’t support APC’ – Davido
Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has ruled out supporting the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 presidential election, despite his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing President Bola Tinubu.
In a recent video making the rounds online, the Grammy-nominated artist made his position known during an interview with News Central TV, just days after the Osun State governorship election and the announcement of the results.
The singer explained that although his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, declared support for President Bola Tinubu after winning the election, he was not obligated to follow his uncle’s political choice.
He also recalled his involvement in previous political campaigns, including his support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar when they were in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Davido said, “I defeated 17 governors with all their power, with all their immunity, escort commanders, DSS, with all their billions. I defeated them with just a phone.
“For now, I feel like I did what I had to do for the Osun people and my family.
“You can’t force me to have a presidential candidate. My uncle might have his personal reasons for the gain of the state.”
Speaking about his uncle’s decision to support Tinubu, the singer said, “My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for President Tinubu. But as for me, I am not prepared to support anybody.
“I personally haven’t seen anybody in the past. Yes, I have supported Atiku before when we were in PDP, and I even supported in 2015 when APC first did the merger. My late uncle was part of the APC, so I campaigned then.
“But right now, I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change, sha. It’s not going to be APC, but everybody should have their own,” he said.

“How Toyin Abraham’s fans always attack me for dropping comments on Funke Akindele’s posts” – Actress Yetunde Bakare speaks out
Nollywood actress Yetunde Bakare isn’t done speaking out after the leaked audio of Toyin Abraham.
It was reported that a 12-minute leaked audio recording of Abraham, lashing out over the daily insults and criticisms she was constantly receiving and addressing her relationships with colleagues, had surfaced online.
The audio recording, primarily in Yoruba and pidgin, also showed Abraham’s fan repeatedly hurling insults at Funke Akindele, while Abraham listened and laughed rather than reprimanding her.
Bisgold also touched on previous insults directed at Iyabo Ojo, which she said the actress couldn’t get over, and Abraham laughed, saying she couldn’t get over it either.
Following the audio leak, Yetunde Bakare left a comment on Regina Chukwu’s post about people who secretly record conversations.
Her post didn’t sit well with many who lashed out at her.
Responding to them, Yetunde questioned if her crime is supporting someone with her full chest. Calling their behaviour a high level of stupidīty, she said they need special evaluation.
Not done, she made a video online explaining the situation, claiming she wasn’t aware of Toyin’s leaked audio when she left a comment on Regina’s page.
Yetunde revealed that Toyin’s fans always attack her whenever she comments on Funke’s posts.
She said the constant attacks made her feel targeted, which led to the whole misunderstanding
