Goje’s Alleged N25bn Fraud: AGF Takes Over Case From EFCC

EFCC Still In Control Of Goje's Case

Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has taken over the case of alleged N25 billion fraud filed against Senator Danjuma Goje by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EFCC has been prosecuting the former Gombe State governor for about eight years until Friday.

This comes after Goje withdrew from the Senate Presidency race on Thursday and endorsed the anointed candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmad Lawan.

The case, which is before Justice Babatunde Quadiri of Jos Federal High Court II, has been taken to Court of Appeal in Jos over the remaining two count charge out of 21 filed against him by EFCC.

The Appellate Court is yet to fix a date for hearing of the appeal.

EFCC counsel, Wahab Shittu, told Jos Federal High Court II on Friday during an emergency hearing that the agency was withdrawing from the case and handing it over the Office of the Attorney-General for continuation.

Counsel from the Office of the Attorney-General, Pius Asika, announced his appearance for the case.

Mr Asika applied for adjournment to enable him prepare for the case properly.

Justice Quadiri adjourned till June 21 for continuation of hearing.

We acknowledge the economic hardships faced by many, and reaffirm our commitment to stabilizing the grid, expanding access, and fostering investor confidence. Recent reforms, such as the ongoing upgrade of transmission infrastructure and partnershipswith renewable energy developers, are pivotal to achieving sustainable solutions”.

The Minister described Easter as a period of unity and compassion and called on Nigerians to continue to support government policies and initiatives by reporting illegal activities such as energy theft and infrastructure tampering. “Let us also embrace energy-efficient practices to reduce strain on the grid.

As emphasized by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, collective resilience and patriotism are vital to overcoming national challenges .

Adelabuended the messages with a prayer for peace and prosperity. “May the spirit of Easter inspire hope and solidarity. I pray for a Nigeria where every home enjoys uninterrupted power, and every citizen thrives in an environment of peace and progress. ECOWAS Meets With Gambian Bar Association In Banjul

The ECOWAS Needs Assessment Team, in continuation of its broad consultations with critical stakeholders, met with officials of the Gambian Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice in Banjul on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th April 2025 respectively.

The General Secretary of the Gambian Bar Association (GBA), Mr Abdoulie Fatly and the immediate President of the GBA, Mr Salieu Taal were on hand to receive the team at the GBA office.

At the Justice Ministry, the team was received by the Solicitor General and Legal Secretary, Mr Hussein Thomas and other staff members.
