Convention: APC Mocks Saraki, Other PDP Presidential Aspirants For Bowing To Wike’s Threat
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taunted the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and other presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly bowing to the dictates of the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike on the venue of the PDP’s national convention.
In apparent bid to woo aggrieved opposition elements, APC said those with progressive ideologies should leave the PDP and join its fold where their voices would be heard.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabene, APC said Wike had “assumed the role of de- facto PDP national chairman, sole administrator, spokesman, organising secretary and BoT chairman”.
The ruling party said that it was a misnomer to refer to the PDP as a democratic party, adding that, “there is nothing democratic about its policies and practices”.
“The PDP to all intents and purposes has become the theatre of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. Since assuming office after the disputed 2015 Rivers governorship election, Wike has assumed the role of de-facto PDP national chairman, sole administration, spokesman, organising secretary and BoT Chairman.
APC accused Wike of once imposing a national chairman on the PDP without a formal convention.
It also talked about a leaked telephone conversation of Governor Wike threatening to kill INEC officials he had paid to rig the rivers rerun election in favour of the PDP.
APC said Wike threatened the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, other PDP presidential aspirants and leaders to ‘teach a bitter lesson’ if they ‘dared’ to oppose his decision to host the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
“It is an open secret that Governor Wike’s insistence on Port Harcourt is to manipulate and influence his choice of presidential candidate from the crowd of PDP presidential aspirants, virtually all of whom stole the nation’s commonwealth in the recent past.
“It is surprising that the PDP with its supposed seasoned politicians will sit by and allow Governor Wike use the PDP as his personal property, to determine who gets what, when and how, and where party conventions must be held. What happened to internal party democracy? Of course, this is an alien concept to the PDP,” said APC.
APC said it has ensured that its processes were inclusive and participatory. The party also said that the direct primary election method of electing party candidates introduced by Adams Oshiomhole-led APC national leadership is a demonstration of its drive to ensure that internal party democracy is adhered to. “This is a departure from the cash and carry system institutionalised by the PDP.
“PDP members who genuinely believe in our progressive ideologies are encouraged to leave the sinking PDP and join the APC where their voices will be heard and decisions taken collectively. They should leave the Wike Autocratic Party (WAP) for the Rivers State Governor and his minions, bent on foisting their unpopular and undemocratic will on the majority,” it said.

Labour Party not for sale – Usman spits fire on Abure, others
The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party, has rebuked Julius Abure, for parading himself as the party’s National Chairman after the Supreme Court Judgement of April 4th, 2025.
The factional Interim National Secretary, Darlington Nwochocha, in a statement on Monday in Abuja, asked the Prosecutor-General of the Federation to expedite action on recommendations for Abure’s prosecution for impersonation and sundry other alleged offences.
The statement is in response to an earlier statement issued by Abure, where he said INEC’s position on its refusal to upload the particulars of LP aspirants for February’s Council polls in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as well as the Supreme Court judgement were being misconstrued.
Usman said, “The Labour Party is not for sale. Mr Abure and his associates should seek legitimate means of livelihood rather than attempting to commercialize political structures.
“It is also instructive from INEC’s statement that Mr Abure and his drowning disciples of political party merchants have metamorphosed into vexatious and abusive litigants, having instituted over twenty (20) court cases against INEC and the Labour Party leadership, led by Distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman and Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwokocha, across various courts in the Federation and the FCT in particular.”

APC Plan Is To Ensure No Other Party Survives Before 2027 – ADC Raises Alarm
The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Monday accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of engineering crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Abdullahi claimed that the aim of the APC is to ensure that no other political party survives ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Featuring on AIT Focus Nigeria, Abdullahi said: “The crisis in Labour Party was engineered, the crisis in PDP was engineered, the crisis in all these parties were engineered.
“But why were these crises engineered? That is the question. These crises were engineered because the ruling party knows that in a free and fair contest, there is no way that they will win the election.
“Their best option is to give people no alternative going into the 2027 election, today PDP is no longer what it used to be.”
The ADC spokesman also declared that the opposition party has a solid legal backing.
He noted that what the APC did to PDP, NNPP and LP will not be allowed to happen by the ADC.
“ADC is on a solid legal ground, our team of lawyers took their time because we saw what this government did to PDP, LP, NNPP, because their plan is to ensure that no other political party survives apart from APC so hat by the time we arrive at 2027, people will be left with no choice regardless of what they did to the people,” he added.

2027: Why Peter Obi matters in ADC’s relevance, ambitions — Fayose
……Insists PDP no longer Nigeria’s main opposition party
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has warned that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may become doomed and irrelevant if it fails to present former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Fayose made the remarks during an exclusive interview on Arise Television, where he described Obi as the only political figure capable of giving the ADC national relevance.
He argued that other political figures within the party lack the electoral appeal required to make a meaningful impact at the polls.
“Peter Obi is the life in ADC,” Fayose said. “I didn’t say there are no other human beings in ADC. I’m saying others are largely spent forces.”
The former governor argued that Obi’s political influence goes beyond party structures, noting that his popularity was clearly demonstrated during the 2023 general election when the Labour Party, previously regarded as fringe, won several seats in the House of Representatives on the back of Obi’s candidacy.
“When Obi went to Labour, Labour that was never known, people won elections to the House of Reps,” Fayose said, stressing that Obi’s emergence instantly transformed the party’s electoral fortunes.
Fayose maintained that Obi would attract significant support regardless of the platform he contests on, even suggesting that a little-known party could gain relevance solely by fielding the former Anambra governor.
“Let’s say Obi didn’t go to ADC. Let Obi go to another party. Let’s say Obi is in Accord… Obi is the only traction, Obi is the only meaning, Obi is the only factor,” he said.
However, Fayose was careful not to frame his comments as a prediction of electoral victory or defeat in 2027.
He said his argument was strictly about the ADC’s survival and relevance in the evolving political landscape.
“I’m not saying Obi will win this election. I’m not saying Obi will not win this election,” he said.
“But I’m telling you, even if they don’t field Obi, if ADC fails to field Obi, their case will be worse than their coming together.”
The former governor added that sidelining Obi would significantly weaken the party’s standing ahead of the polls, insisting that the ex-governor of Anambra remains central to any serious electoral ambition the ADC may have in 2027
