Exclusive: BBNaija Finale: Why The Odds Favour Whitemoney To Win N90m Grand Prize

Published

on

In just about 24hours from now, the sixth edition of the Big Brother Naija Reality Show, tagged ‘Shine Ya Eye’, will come to a close.

From 26 housemates that were ushered into the show, there are just six left in the hunt for the ultimate prize.

Fans of the show in the last 10 weeks have been locked in a severe battle all in a bid to ensure their favourites and why they will win the grand prize. Thepledge‘s Augustine Akhilomen looks at the intrigues leading to the finale and how the winner may likely emerge.

On Sunday, October 3rd, this year’s BBNaija reality show will climax with the crowning of a new winner and the tension is pitch high both for the housemates still in contention and for their teeming fans pushing hard to outdo each other.

For the first time since inception of this season, six housemates are playing for the grand prize in the final week, raising the stakes of what have been a most thrilling journey for fans and the Housemates alike.

The last few days has been more challenging for the remaining six housemates and series of thoughts have been running through their minds on what could become of their status by Sunday evening.

Pere, Cross, Angel, Whitemoney, Liquorose and Emmanuel are on the verge of history, but only one of them will wear the crown.

EMMANUEL (Emmanuel Umoh

This 24-year old Mr. Africa perhaps had the easiest passage to the finale.

Luck smiled on him when he won the Ultimate Veto Power challenge two weeks before the final and became the first Housemate to zoom into the finale.

His title also offered him the power to choose the Head of House and Deputy.

Twice he was nominated for possible eviction, he was fortunate to come out unscathed, a feat fans of the show attributed to his closeness with his love Interest, Liquorose, who boasts of a large followership especially on social blogging app, Instagram.

His stay in the house was less eventful, as he played it safe week in, week out, hardly was involved in any squabbles in the house and preferred to sleep during most of the free time.

Though Emmanuel fancies his chances, viewers of the show know that his biggest achievement will be making the finals and capturing the heart of Liquorose.

VERDICT: 6TH

ANGEL (Angel Agnes Smith

Her entrance into the show set social media on fire owing to her choice of outfit, which largely revealed her sagged boobs, winning her a large chunk of male fans.

Shameless to a fault, Angel’s time in the house has been eventful. Within the first two weeks, her brief romance with Sammie was a delight, but the ship sank barely two weeks after it started after the duo had a fight owing to Angel’s flirtatious nature.

Angel’s boldness during the truth and dare games also made her a fans favourite. Within the first few weeks of the show, she had kissed nearly all the guys in the house, except Emmanuel and Whitemoney, while she also grabbed Pere’s manhood.

She had also recently revealed during an argument with Pere that she had given him a blow job in the shower, while her recent escapades with Cross is well known to her fellow housemates.

Though the youngest housemate this season, Angel carried herself with much confidence and refused to be bullied by her much older housemates.

However, some fans accused her of acting for the cameras as she was caught on several occasions peeping at the cameras before putting up an act.

Her entrance into the final was made possible by Big Brother’s decision to throw a twist in the final eviction last Sunday.

Despite earning lesser votes than Pere, Angel was given a chance to earn the last spot in the finale via a game in the white room. Big Brother however bent the rules and sent both housemates to the finale.

VERDICT: 5TH

CROSS (Ikechukwu Sunday Cross Okonkwo)

Arguably the most entertaining housemate this season, Cross’s free and flirtatious nature has also made him a fans favourite this season.

Tagged as the ‘life of the party’, Cross takes no prisoners in his quest to enjoy himself in what he tagged as “my big brother’s house’.

Week after week, he escaped nomination and was only unfortunate to be put up for eviction twice by the save and swap rule given to the Head of House and Veto Power Holder.

But grace smiled on him when it mattered most as Emmanuel who had beaten him to the Ultimate Veto Power game picked him as Deputy Head of House, earning him a safe spot in the finals.

His exploits with female housemates, especially his love for Saskay and his flirting with Angel and Queen also formed most of his highlights.

One of his biggest regrets will be his inability to experience the Executive Lounge to have a time of his life.

However, he considers himself a winner making it to the final week, even though he nurses a strong feeling that he does not stand a chance at the grand prize.

VERDICT: 4TH

PERE (Pere Egbi)

Arguably the most controversial housemate, Pere became the most talked about housemate the week he emerged as Head of House.

Sensing that a fellow housemate, Whitemoney was using cooking as a strategy to win the hearts of the housemates, Pere used his influence as the HOH to alter the status quo as he removed Whitemoney from the kitchen and put Angel in charge.

That singular act pitched Pere against some of his fellow housemates, especially the ladies, just as fans were divided for and against his decision, which went a long way to trigger drama and non-stop entertainment in the show.

Pere enjoys a strong followership that has grown over the period of the show. It came to fore earlier this week when Big Brother had put Pere and Angel in the white room to contest for the final spot of the finale.

But Pere’s fans, sensing that the game could affect Pere’s chances of making it to the final, took to the streets and stormed the headquarters of where the Big Brother House is located to register their displeasure. According to them, it was unfair to make Pere contest for a spot he rightly deserved after coming second behind Whitemoney via public votes.

The smooth talking ex-US Military Officer since his return from the house has gained more followership and is always seen as a threat to his fellow housemates. Earlier this week, he emerged winner of the Innoson Motors Task, which earned him a brand new car for his feat, much to the envy of his fellow housemates.

VERDICT: 3RD

LIQUOROSE (Roseline Omokhoa Afije)

This Edo-born professional dancer and video vixen was a fans favourite from the commencement of the show.

Boasting of about 1.4million followers on her instagram page, Liquorose as she is called in the show can do no wrong in the eyes of her fans.

The 26-year old has also had some pretty awesome moments in the house and has adequately used her talents to win series of sponsored-tasks, which has seen her earn over N10million since the inception of the show.

Her tom-boyish physique has helped her excel in some physical related tasks, while she does not hesitate to bring her energy on the dance floor.

Liquorose is in contention to emerge winner of the show and only faces stiff competition from Whitemoney. Several a-list Nollywood actors and actresses, including musicians have thrown their weight behind her to win the prize money.

Series of campaigns have been ongoing for her to emerge winner and viewers of the show might be in for an upset come Sunday.

VERDICT: 2ND

WHITEMONEY (Hazel Oyeze Onou)

Multi-talented light-skinned housemate, Whitemoney is about to enter into the folklore of famous winners of the Big Brother Naija franchise.

Whitemoney stealthy walked his way into the heart of viewers of the show and has emerged as the favourite to win this year’s show.

Although his critics accuse him of being unreal and acting for the cameras, whatever the case may be, it seems to have worked in his favour as his fans keep increasing even as the show winds down.

Despite spending most of his spare time in the kitchen, Whitemoney’s funny nature, comic side and musical ingenuity has also won him fans from across board.

The 29-year old businessman, who is the only housemate who has never smelt the four walls of a higher institution or entered an aircraft before, warmed his way into the hearts of his fellow housemates with his culinary skills and his ability to advice his fellow housemates on some issues.

He willingly cooked mouth-watering meals for all the housemates and despite being nominated for eviction in the second week, he survived.

His fans have become somewhat of a ‘cult’ and are hell bent on ensuring he walks home with the grand prize on Sunday.

Surviving last week’s eviction process which saw four housemates leave the show certainly put fear in the other finalists who believe he stands a good chance of winning the show.

As popular comedian, Broda Shaggy put it, Whitemoney’s popularity and probability to win the show simply boils down to the grace he enjoys.

VERDICT: BBNAIJA SEASON 6 WINNER!

I would rather pay hospital bills than give monthly tithe, says Toke Makinwa

Published

on

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has explained her decision to stop paying monthly tithes to the church, revealing that she now redirects the money to hospitals, widows, and individuals in urgent need.

In a video posted on her YouTube channel on Saturday, Makinwa made the remarks during the podcast where she said she “kind of stopped paying tithe to the church” after concluding that many churches are already financially comfortable and she would rather channel the money to the needy.

“I kind of stopped paying tithe to the church because all the churches I know are rich. And I decided that no, no, no, no, I ain’t doing this anymore. I would rather go to hospitals, widows’ homes.”

She added that many of the churches are already financially well-established.

“All the churches I know are rich. Every Sunday, there’s a building fund envelope. You guys have so much money, and it’s not taxed. It’s a business, if I’m going to be real, because if that pastor dies today, either his wife or his child becomes the next pastor,” she said, adding that leadership succession in some churches often remains within families.

While clarifying that she still gives offerings and supports church programmes, Makinwa stressed that she no longer pays her regular tithe directly to religious institutions.

“I give an offering in church. And if the church needs anything, I would support the house of God for programmes, anything. But that monthly tithe.”

According to her, she now channels her tithe toward charitable causes, including paying hospital bills and assisting people with urgent financial needs.

“I would rather go to hospitals, take a maternity ward, and pay all the bills there. I would rather when strangers come to meet me, I would tithe my tithe to them because they are telling me their actual needs,” she said.

She questioned the rationale of giving money to churches while people struggle to survive.

“How can I say I love God? I have the money this person is looking for to pay rent, and I’m carrying it to a church?” she asked.

Makinwa also addressed possible criticism, urging people to act according to their convictions.

“Do whatever it is in your conviction to do,” she said, noting that interpretations of biblical teachings on tithing differ.

Reflecting on her past, she revealed that she once gave an entire brand endorsement fee to the church as a tithe.

“Ten years ago, I was the girl who got a brand endorsement deal, didn’t touch one naira double digits, and carried everything to church. I said I will tithe this to God so that my life will never be tight,” she recalled.

Billboard under fire for calling Iyabo Ojo ‘one-hit wonder’

Published

on

United States entertainment magazine, Billboard, has come under fire on social media for calling singer Rema
a “one-hit wonder”.

Recall that Billboard had on February 16, 2026, reshared an article from its June 2025 chart beat.

Billboard in the post on X, named Rema number six on the list of its “25 Biggest One Hit Wonders of the 21st Century” for his global smash ‘Calm Down’, which featured Selena Gomez, an American pop star.

The magazine which explained that Rema has not been able to make it to the Hot 100 again after featuring Selena Gomez “although he has landed six top 10s on U.S. Afrobeats Songs, through the June 7, 2025, chart”.

The resurfaced post sparked criticism from netizens with many tagging the publication disrespectful to Rema’s broader achievements.

@MikeAgrow wrote: “Rema has been dropping consistent bangers, selling out arenas, and putting Afrobeats on the map worldwide. One song on their chart doesn’t erase all that. Call it what it is.”

@flourish_empire said, “What kind of downplay is that? All Rema songs are hit back to back.”

@gtm_gtel added, “They try to kill his confidence but so bad. Billboard can’t tell Africans how to do their thing. Their rate is of no use.”

I’ll work with any political party – Iyabo Ojo tells critics after FAAN video

Published

on

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has said she will work with any political party to build a better tomorrow for Nigeria.

She stated this following her controversial promotional clip for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.

Recall that a video recently shared by FAAN on X, captured Iyabo praising and promoting what she described as improvements at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Also posting the video, she wrote “FAAN is changing for the better in so many ways. I’m so proud of my country.”

The development sparked mixed reactions online due to her previously known political stance, with many reminding FAAN and the Federal government of how the actress previously criticised Tinubu administration, and also supported Peter Obi against him during the 2023 general election.

Reacting to the development, Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of FAAN, debunked claims online that Ojo had been awarded any contract by the authorities, or appointed as its ambassador.

Speaking amid the backlash, Iyabo Ojo who stated that she’s unapologetic, clarified that she did the video out of her good will to promote her country.

While denying being paid for the video, Iyabo Ojo noted that she’s ready to work for any political party to build a better tomorrow.

Iyabo Ojo wrote on her Instagram page; “I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress, airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved etc, I shout it from the rooftops if need be, not because I am being paid, not because I am political, but because I feel it and I want good for my country. I will continue to use my craft, my voice, to promote Nigeria, and I am unapologetic about it.

“FAAN approached me that you have seen the changes. Please help us spread the word. So I did it for free. No contract. Just love for Nigeria. If Nigeria must rise we ALL must build it. Silence helps no one. I will work with any political party as long as it is building a better tomorrow for our dear nation. No agenda. Just hands joined. Let’s stop dividing”, she said.

This came amid the ongoing appointment of many celebrities and influencers by president Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, to lead support groups for his father’s re-election.
