2025 U-20 AFCON: Chelle elated with Flying Eagles quarter-final feat

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has reflected on the Flying Eagles’ performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Flying Eagles have struggled to make a big impression at the competition despite their status as one of the favourites.

Aliyu Zubairu’s side finished second in Group B with five points from three games.

Chelle was in the stands during the team’s 2-2 draw with Kenya on Wednesday.

The Malian applauded the Flying Eagles for progressing to the next stage.

“I’m very happy with our U20 team’s qualification. It wasn’t an easy match, because we were up against a very good team (Kenya). We reacted in this match. Every time we conceded a goal, the team responded well,” the 47-year-old told CAFonline.

The Flying Eagles will be up against holders Senegal in a quarter-final fixture at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia next week Monday.

I’m tired, you’ve failed – Petit slams Arsenal

Former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Petit, has hit out at the Gunners for their performances this season.

Petit insisted that Arsenal have failed under their manager Mikel Arteta this term.

The Frenchman also admitted that he was tired of watching Arsenal go trophyless again after being eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain this season.

“After we lost against Paris Saint-Germain, the fans were mocking Arsenal because of that,” Petit told Casinozonderlimiet (via GOAL).

“It’s the same in England, you know, Arsenal are a good team, a good club, but everyone says that they are not one of the top clubs in Europe in terms of history.

“That is because they have failed and I am tired of it. This team needs to change the situation and win something, they need to compete until the end and not just at the start,” he stated.

Arsenal will have to wait until next season to see if they can win a trophy.

But the Premier League North London club need to strengthen their squad this summer transfer window.
