2023: Peter Obi’s Momentum, Spectacle Won’t Guarantee Him Victory, Umahi Speaks On Labour Party Rallies

Published

…Insists Tinubu Does Not Need To Show Any Proof Of Life To Anyone.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that the Labour Party’s initial wave of momentum and spectacle doesn’t guarantee victory at the polls, adding that his party, the All Progressives Congress will soon commence its rallies and mobilisation nationwide.

The governor, who is the South-East Chairman for the APC presidential campaign, said there are still many months for campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections and there is nothing to worry about the delayed inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Umahi spoke on Monday when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme.

With the official commencement of campaigns on September 28, supporters of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have stormed major cities across the country to declare support for the former governor of Anambra State.

Obi’s supporters known as ‘Obidients’ on October 1, 2022, held peaceful rallies across the country just as Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has been seen crisscrossing states in the country to mobilise support ahead of February 2023 polls.

Told on Monday that the Labour Party and the PDP have flagged off campaigns and rallies whilst the APC is yet to do so, Umahi said, “We have many months to elections and we have many months to campaign. The first to start does not translate to the first to finish. So, the APC is a bank and they are coming up with programmes. It will soon happen.

On what he meant by the APC being a bank, the governor clarified that the ruling party is a bank “in terms of mass mobilisation, in terms of acceptability”.

APC had released a 422-man Presidential Campaign Council list and scheduled inauguration for September 28 but postponed it indefinitely as some aggrieved members of the ruling party including the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, allegedly said Tinubu did not carry the party’s National Working Committee along before the release of the list.

In the same vein,Umahi  said that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has life and does not need to show any proof of life to anyone.

He disclosed this early morning today while fielding questions on the Channels TV Morning Rise Program.

Recall that there have been speculations that the APC’s candidate may be battling some health crisis following his absence at the recent signing of a peace accord agreement by presidential candidates of political parties.

Reports later emerged on Thursday that he is currently in London, United Kingdom.

However, Tinubu has also shared a video of himself working on a fitness bike to prove that he’s strong and healthy.

However, he failed to state why he was absent.

Reacting to the speculations, Governor Umahi stated that people asking about the health of the country’s leaders, including that of his party’s candidate, are being petty.

“Nobody is totally well, and nobody is totally sick; this is one point. Another point is that Nigerians are petty; some of us are petty.

“A man doing his workout, you know, is being videoed and circulated on social media without his knowledge.

“And so, a man that has life does not need to show any proof of life. Asiwaju has life, and he doesn’t need to show any proof of life, and you can see that.

“I think we should concentrate on tangibles because life is like being on the bus, and you don’t know where the next bus stop is.

“Some of the people talking about the health of the leaders of the country don’t even know when their bus stop is coming. So, we should rely on tangibles. Every life and health rests in the hand of God; that is how I look at it”, he said.

Peter Okoye of the P-Square music group says Nigeria has only two tribes, which according to him are the poor and the rich people.

The popular music star, who is a staunch supporter of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, made the claim in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.

According to the tweet, the inability of the poor masses to unite and fight for better governance, had kept them as slaves to the few rich Nigerians.

He called on Nigerians, particularly eligible voters, to make wise decisions while casting their votes in the forthcoming general elections.

He wrote, “We only have two Tribes in Nigeria, THE POOR and THE RICH. The poor are higher in number while the rich are fewer but the rich managed to keep the poor in perpetual slavery because the poor have refused to unite and fight for their freedom. 2023 election Vote Wisely #ObiDatti023”.

World Cup: My Son Wept After Argentina’s Defeat To Saudi Arabia – Messi

Published

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has revealed that his son, Mateo, immediately started crying after his side’s World Cup 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia last week.

Recall that Saudi Arabia came from a goal down to beat Argentina on November 22.

Speaking after Argentina’s World Cup 2-0 win against Mexico over the weekend, Messi said via Mirror, “Mateo left the stadium crying after the first game (vs Saudi Arabia) and Thiago came out counting telling me that if we won both games we would qualify.

“My family suffers the same as all Argentines but we’re happy and we get comfortable again because now our progress depends on us.”

Messi will now hope to lead Argentina to victory when they face Poland on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Messi’s agent, Marcelo Mendez, has played down speculation his client is on the verge of joining Inter Miami when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer.

Reports had emerged that Messi, who inspired Argentina to beat Mexico 2-0 in a World Cup tie last weekend, would leave PSG on a free transfer.

Reacting to the speculation, Mendez branded the rumours ‘fake news’.

“It’s false,” Mendez told CNN when asked about the reports. “It’s fake news.

“There is no negotiation for Lionel to join Inter Miami next season.”
